My Boyz

I think it's official now - I have friends in high places. Last night, both the Madison Common Council and the Dane County Board had their organizational meetings. This photo is of my culinary sparring partner and freshly-elected Dane County Board Chairman Scott McDonell holding forth with the press after the meeting:

Afterwards, I crossed the street to see the Common Council in action and caught noted blog critic, boyfriend of Vicki McKenna, and freshly-elected Common Council President Austin King chairing a portion of the meeting (the Mayor must have been in a back hallway doing speedballs or something):

A few hours later at the Great Dane, the two new pillars of legislative power share a happy moment:

Normally, stuff this important would get a bit more commentary from me. For example, all that popping noise you were hearing this morning was the sound of hundreds of crania exploding when Madison-hating right-wing Madisonians (which is OK, they weren't using the crania anyway) woke up to the notion that President King (that sure has a nice ring, doesn't it?) is a heartbeat away from being the next Mayor. But since Dave eats healthy, exercises, and keeps away from driving on the beltline, he should be able to finish his term without any trouble.

But I've been running around so much and am tired right now, I'm just going to leave it and be happy for Scott and Austin.

Three Huzzahs for Chairman McDonnell and President King (or king president, or what.....)

Anyway, it's good to be in Madison right now!
